Task Force Background

In May 2017, the Boone County Health Department worked with the Region 1 Planning Council to form The Task Force. Stakeholders included local city and county employees from law enforcement, emergency response, public health, Geographic Information System (GIS), county jail, probation, and the court system, as well as representatives from Rosecrance, Remedies, Crusader Community Health, and several of our major regional health systems.

In 2018, The Task Force completed its Sequential Intercept Map, Comprehensive Gap Analysis, and Final Report with Recommendations and Goals for Boone County. This report addresses the behavioral health needs of our population, identified gaps such as lack of accessibility to treatment providers and facilities and to emergency medical services in the county as well as recommending an organized and interdisciplinary response to the opioid epidemic.

After researching best practices, The Task Force decided upon development of a sequential intercept mapping exercise upon which they would build a multi-intercept strategy to create this system-level change.

The Task Force worked together to create the Boone County Sequential Intercept Mapping Report, which includes recommendations to address gaps and opportunities. The Task Force continues to work together, meeting regularly to create realistic solutions to behavioral health issues facing Boone County and its residents.
